The House of Representatives Committee on Aviation today described the purported launch of troubled Nigeria Air at the twilight of the administration of former President, Muhammadu Buhari, by the outgone Aviation Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika as fraudulent.
Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation, Nnolim Nnaji, declared the launch of Nigeria Air as fraudulent following denial by the major stakeholders in the deal between the Federal Government and Ethiopian Airlines denied knowledge of the last minute launch by Sirika in Abuja.
On its part, the Aviation Ministry alleged that the controversial Nigeria Air was only unveiled and not launched, a situation the committee said was a calculated attempt to divert the attention of the legislators.
The committee said that it was not carried along despite the respect the enermous accorded him by the committee, adding that members of the committee were shocked when the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) revealed that the aircraft bearing Nigerian colours was on a chartered flight to Nigeria.
The Managing Director of the failed Nigeria Air, Capt. Dapo Olumide said that a chartered flight could be painted in any colour and with any inscriptions.
