President Bola Tinubu has appointed the incumbent Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff (CoS)
This was confirmed by Gbajabiamila’s Chief of Staff to Olanrenwaju Smart Wasiu.
Smart stated that Gbajabiamila was appointed by the President Tinubu after several hours of meetings and consultations.
Smart explained that Gbajabiamila was picked by the President after a final meeting with stakeholders that ended on Thursday morning at the Villa in Abuja.
He further explained that the President’s decision to appoint the speaker was to get someone that could assist him persuade lawmakers in the National Assembly to accept his proposals and policies.
AbelNews learnt that the decision to appoint the Speaker of House of Representatives was taken by the President after evaluating all possible candidates aspiring for the post among his loyalists.
Gbajabiamila who won his election for the sixth term has not received his Certificate of Return (CoR) from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
With his appointment by the President as the CoS, he would have to forgo his election into the House of Representatives.
