The Federal Government through Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has appointed the Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration, Carol Wura-Ola the new Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
Her emergence followed the expiration of the tenure of the former Comptroller General of the NIS, Isah Jere
The new Acting CGI was appointed by the Federal Government through the Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board
Her appointment is contained in a letter dated May 26, 2023 and signed by the Secretary of the Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed.
The letter informed that the new Acting CGi’s appointment take effect from Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
“I write to convey approval of the Chairman of the Board for you to cover duties of the Office of the Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) as the most senior Deputy Comptroller General (DCG).
“You are enjoined to bring to bear your wealth of experience on the job as well as Consolidate on the ongoing transformation of the Service,” the statement reads.
Her emergence followed the expiration of the tenure of the former Comptroller General of the NIS, Isah Jere
Jere’s tenure ended on April 24,2023 but was extended by the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari.
A source close to NIS headquarters told AbelNews that the extension granted Jere by the former President had since expired , a situation that made the board to appoint a new Acting CGI.
