Chairman, National Drug law Enforcement Agency,( NDLEA), Gen Buba Marwa ( rtd), said that the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), will receive the support of the illicit drugs bursting agency as part of its all inclusive collaboration to rid Nigeria of drug cartels and couriers.
Gen. Marwa, who said that as a former player in the aviation sector, appreciated the challenges of travel trade operators in having the right training to help track down drug traffickers who approach them for travel services, noting that though the drug agency is not a revenue generating organisation, he would however ensure that NANTA members receive every training support that would enhance their partnership with NDLEA.
Marwa, thanked the association for recorgnition accorded hm by the way of NANTA Eminent Persons diadem, adding that all hands must be on deck to restore sanity in Nigeria public health system and the image of the country.
Speaking earlier, President of Mrs Susan Akporiaye, who led two Council members of the association, Mr chima Ihe and Ambassador Kayode Akinshola, to present the Certificate of nomination to General Buba Marwa as NANTA Eminent Persons Awardee for championing the aggressive drive to rid Nigeria of illicit trafficking and consumption of drugs, appealed to the NDLEA boss, to help NANTA to create more awareness by way of training its members on how to be circumspect when dealing with clients, requesting for travel services to countries listed as illicit drugs red zones.
She informed that Marwa (rtd) , has brought a refreshing and effective security measures to confront drug cartels who through their nefarious activities, have battered the image of Nigeria.
” Since your coming to NDLEA, we noticed that you have put the illicit drug cartels to flight, and thus help give nigeria a better image within and outside Africa, which has brought a boost to our business, largely dependant on perception and image, ” NANTA President explained, adding that Eminent Persons Award, which will be bestowed on Marwa as ” CHAMPION OF Drug Free Nigeria’ next week Friday at the International Conference Center Abuja, is a token of appreciation from the travel trade body for the good work he has done to keep Nigeria and Nigerian young persons in particular out of dangerous influence and circle of consumption of dangerous drugs.
” NANTA appreciates your dedication and passion in this regard, and as partners in progress, we look forward to your office in helping our members to avoid pitfalls of being labeled as influencers and bridge lines to drug cartels and couriers” she further stated.
