NIWA SAR Team,Police, LASWA, Others Rescue 16 Passengers, One Dies,As Ikorodu Bound  17 Seater Boat  Capsizes

The National Inland Waterways Authority(NIWA),  Search and Rescue(SAR) Team, Marine Police , Lagos State Waterways Authority(LASWA) and Fishermen, today rescued 16 of the  17 passengers  that were on board a  boat named “TEMI 3 Global”that capsized  in Lagos.

According to a statement signed by the Area Manager NIWA,Lagos,  Engr. Sarat Braimah for NIWA, explained that the boat which departed CMS Ferry Terminal at 1635hrs enroute Ikorodu Ferry Terminal  today, September 27, 2021 capsized with 16 passengers rescued and  that only one casualty was  recorded .

She explained that 15 minutes into the journey near Adekunle Waterfront, the boat hit an underwater obstacle which broke the hull of the boat and this resulted to the capsize of the boat.

The Area Manager stated that there were immediate mobilisation to the site of incident by NIWA  Search and Rescue Team, LASWA, Marine Police, Fishermen and other boat operators leading to the rescue of 16 persons alive while one person died while on the way to the hospital.

She condoled with the family of the deceased and pray for the soul of the dead to rest in perfect peace.
