
The Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) has inaugurated a new Board of Trustee(BoT) and among the members is Frank Meke, a media and tourism consultant .
The Board was inaugurated on Friday, May 21, 2021 via virtual conference, following wide and prolonged consultations among ATPN members and stakeholders.
The Board members are:
1. Alhaji Kabir Malan.
2. Mr. John Best
3. Mr. GaniyuTarzan Balogun.
4. Chief Andy Ehanire
5. Mr. Frank Meke
6. Hon Abdulmumin Mapindi
Speaking, shortly after the inauguration, the Board Chairman,Alhaji Kabir Malan,who was in a highly elated mood, reminded members that ATPN remains the precursors of an omnibus tourism association in Nigeria, with indepth institutional memory and expertise for resolving technical issues in tourism development.
The new Board is made up of accomplished professionals in the diverse fields in Tourism as to bring cutting edge visionary leadership and support to the association and the tourism industry at large.
The new members took turns to eulogies Chief Amachree, the pioneer Board Chairman, who laid a solid foundation for ATPN.
Members briefly reviewed the current challenges troubling the tourism industry and unanimously agreed that they were surmountable .
Members also resolve to continue to ensure greater collaboration and synergy with stakeholders, including the public sector administrators.
A moment of silence was observed in honour of tourism’s fallen heroes, including the recent passing on of the FTAN President, Alhaji Rabo.
The name of a foremost tourism writer, late Lanre Awoseyin, was recalled and it was resolved by members that his flagship Journal, ‘Hospitality and Tourism’, must not be allowed to die.
Besides, members resolved that the collective clout of the Board members would be rallied in support of the ATPN Executive Committee.
