The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is to arraign a former Aviation Minister, Sen. Stella Oduah, in the Federal High Court, Abuja, for alleged financial impropriety during her tenure as the Aviation Minister on February 22, 2021.
Justice Inyang Ekwo adjourned to that date that because the former minister was not served with the court processes.
Oduah, who is representing Anambra North Senatorial District at the Senate faces fraud charge alongside eight others in a suit with number: FHC/ABJ/CR/316/20. Although the arraignment was scheduled for the day’s sitting.
Before the adjournment, Counsel to the EFCC, Dr Hassan Liman, SAN, had told the court that the former Minister was not served with the court processes as result prayed the court for adjournment to enable EFCC served the ex-Minister the court processes.
“My lord, the matter has been set out today for arraignment. But I have been informed by the commission that the first defendant was not served.
In view of that my lord, may I humbly apply for a very short date,” he said.
Justice Ekwo held that it was the duty of the prosecution to produce defendants in court.
The judge then adjourned the matter to February 22,2021 for defendants to take their plea.
