
The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service Muhammad Babandede has pledged the service commitment towards ensuring that officers and men of the NIS engage in agricultural food and product production to boost the nation’s food security in conjunction with National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).
He said this during the visit of the Executive Secretary of NALDA, Prince Paul Ikonne to NIS Headquarters.
The Executive Secretary encouraged the Immigration personnel to engage in farming being the only profession or venture they are allowed to do apart from their official duties.
A statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) James Sunday explained that the move is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision of “Back to Land”, which would ensure individual, organizations key into national food sufficiency and attainment of food security for all.
Babandede appreciated NALDA’s open door policy on agric-entrepreneurship and farming and promised to involve officers of NIS in the 774 local governments and 36 states including FCT to key into this laudable Federal Government programme geared towards attaining food security for socio-economic development for the nation.
