As the death toll in the United States as a result of COVID-19 continues to be on the increase, the country’s Embassy in Lagos, today evacuated 281 of its nationals from Nigeria through the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos to Washington.
The US citizens in Nigeria being evacuated are on board a Boeing B777- 300 series aircraft with flight number ET-ASK operated by Ethiopian Airlines, the leading airline in Africa.
The evacuation is coming after the airline successfully airlifted both Canadians and US nationals totaling 395 .
Today’s airlift brings the number of its nationals that have evacuated from Nigeria to 866
