The management of the Nigerian Collage of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria said it has concluded arrangements to commence a part-time Post Graduate Diploma course in Aviation Management on September 27, 2019 at the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET), Oshodi in Lagos.
The Chief Executive Officer of the college, Capt. Abdulsalami Mohammed disclosed this while speaking with Aviation Correspondents in Lagos.
The Rector stated that responses from applicants had been encouraging so far, urging other organisations especially airlines, government agencies and private companies to take advantage of the programme to increase their knowledge of the industry.
He however said that registration for different courses was still ongoing and advised intending students and other participants to send their evidence of payment to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
Speaking further, the NCAT boss explained that it was the first time the college was running the programme, assuring that the institution has capable and competent instructors to handle the Post Graduate Degree(PGD) programme and other courses the college intends to runs.
The part time PGD programme, he sias would run for three semesters.
Abdulsalami said that apart from the PGD programme, the college was also organising Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in various fields of academy.
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), he also stated had approved the college to run the programmes, stressing that they were aimed at transforming the college in line with the vision of the current administration for the institution.
“As you are aware, aviation industry is highly technical and dynamic. Things change every day. You can’t continue to use the knowledge you garnered about 10 years ago to run aviation industry of today.
“The PDG in Aviation Management we are running is new to our environment and it’s in order to elevate our industry and the personnel working there. We intentionally brought it to Lagos in a bid to be closer to the people. As you are aware, Lagos is the concentration of aviation activities. So, we brought it here for people to actively participate in it,” Abdulsalami said.
On the OND programme, the NCAT Rector stated that the college would run courses on Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology, while for HND, admissions are available for Aviation Management, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology (Avionics option), Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology (Airframe/Power Plant Option).
Recalled that the college was recognised in 2018 by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), as an institution with the highest number of certified training instructors in the world for the third year running and a Regional Training Center of Excellence.
The certification was the fallout of the exhaustive statistical inspection of NCAT training facilities, instructional staff, course content and programmes, by a team of Global Aviation Training (GAT) experts.
The recognition by ICAO GAT further gives NCAT more allocations and approval to conduct additional courses.
