As part of its expansion drive, RwandAir, the national carrier of the Republic of Rwanda has stated that it would launch flights to Kinshasa, the capital of Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC)April 17, 2019.
An online statement by the airline explained that RwandAir will operate three weekly direct flights from Kigali hub to N’Djili International Airport, the largest of the four international airports in DRC.
This new route, according to the airline will be operated on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays by a Boeing 737-800NG offering 15 seats in business class and 136 seats in economy class.
Tickets, the airline said are now available for sale through our website, sales offices and travel agencies, adding that passengers from Kinshasa will be able to connect to East Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
In May 2019, RwandAir plans to operate three additional night flights a week to Kinshasa with a CRJ-900NextGen offering seven seats in business and 68 in economy class to serve passengers connecting to the rest of the continent and Europe.
Speaking on the opening of the Kinshasa route, the Chief Executive Officer of RwandAir, Yvonne Manzi Makolo, said, “We are very proud to add Kinshasa to our network and to offer both passenger and cargo services. This new route will support our growth and increase our footprint in Africa.”
“We also believe the addition of Kinshasa will boost business and strengthen commercial ties between the two countries” she added.
Kinshasa is the third-largest urban area in Africa after Lagos and Cairo, it hosts the country’s major industrial and commercial companies.
Top tourist attractions include Lola ya Bonobo, the world’s only sanctuary for orphaned bonobos, the National Museum of Kinshasa, Académie des Beaux-Arts and many more.
The country is also known for its rich music history and the Congolese rumba is one of the most popular music genre.
Kinshasa will be the 23rd RwandAir destination in Africa extending RwandAir’s network across the globe to 27 destinations.
