Court Remands Danish National Who Killed Singer Wife, Daughter

 

 

A Chief Magistrate’s Court, Yaba Lagos, today, ordered the remand of one Mr Peter Nielsen, 53, who allegedly killed his wife Zainab, and his three-year-old daughter, Petra, in their Banana Island residence, Ikoyi Lagos.

The court ordered the accuse person to be remanded in Ikoyi Prison pending the legal advice from the office of Department of Public Prosecution(DPP).

Nielsen, a Danish citizen, was brought before the court on a two count charge bordering on murder.

The offences according to the charge are contrary to and punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

Though, the charge was read to him, but his plea was not taken.

Count one of the charge reads, “That you Peter Nielsen ‘m’ on the 5th of April, 2018 at Block 4 Flat 17 Bella Vista Tower, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District did unlawfully kill his wife one Zainab Nielsen ‘f’ aged 37 years, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

And count two reads, “That you Peter Nielsen ‘m’ on the 5th April. 2018 at Block 4 Flat 17 Rella Vista Tower, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District did unlawfully kill his daughter, one Petra Nielsen, aged 3‘/2 years and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 223’ of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

After the charge was read to Danish citizen, the Prosecutor, Mr. Effiong Asuquo, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 5 at his residence at Block 4, Flat 17, Bella Vista Tower, Banana Island, Ikoyi.

He also told the court that the accused had killed his wife, Zainab, 37, and her 3 years old daughter, Petra.

He said, “The accused, who was always at loggerheads with his wife hit her head on the wall severally leading to her death, he also proceeded to poison his daughter”.

He urged the court to remand the Danish in prisons custody, pending an advice from the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP).

In her ruling, the Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Kikelomo Ayeye ordered that the accused be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons pending the outcome of legal advice from the office Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP’s).

The matter has been adjourned till May 8, for outcome of DPP’s advice.
