Man Charge For Stealing N6.2M Diesel


Police today, arraigned a 47 year-old man, Sunday Ajisafe, before a Lagos Chief Magistrate Court, Igboosere, for allegedly stealing 33,000 litres of Automated Gasoline Oil, popularly called diesel.

The accused and others now at large, according to the Prosecuting Police Officer, from Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence (FCIID)Alagbon-Ikoyi, Lagos, Barrister Morufu Animashaun, in charge numbered C/89/2.17, had sometimes in April, 2017,  received the said petroleum product from Waleola Golden  Venture Nigeria Limited, located at Aswani, along Osolo Way, Isolo, Lagos, under false pretence.

The accused is charged for conspiracy, obtaining good under false pretence and stealing.

The offences according to Prosecuting Police Officer, are contrary to and punishable under sections 411, 314 (3) and 285(8) of the criminal laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2015.

The accused, however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following his not guilty plea, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A. O. Komolafe, admitted to baik in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in the same like sum.

The Magistrate also ordered that the sureties must be a landed property owners with three years tax and sworn to affidavit of means, which must be verified by the prosecutor.

The Magistrate while adjourned the matter till January 30, 2018, for mention, ordered that the accused be remanded in prisons custody pending fulfilment of the bail condition.
