FAAN Begins Palliative Repairs On Enugu Runway Today


The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAA) is to embark on  a palliative repair work on the runway of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu today;  December 14, 2017.

An online statement signed by the General Manager,Corporate Communications, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu,stated that the first phase of the repair work would commence on December 14 to  December 21, 2017,  while the second phase will be from December 27 2017, to  January 4, 2018.

She added that there will be skeletal operations at the airport while the work is ongoing as the runway will open for operations from 0700 hours local time till 1500 hours local time on the proposed dates.

According to her, “This is to enable the contractor have ample day-light working hours in order to obtain stable and even runway surface, while also completing the work within the stipulated time frame.”

She added that in line with Standards and Recommended Practices(SARPS) the authority has requested the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) to issue a Notice To Air Men (NOTAM) in this regard.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this action might cause our high esteemed customers. At FAAN we are  committed to our core values of Safety, Security and Comfort,” the agency said.
