
… Says Trending Malicious Video Clip Handiwork Of Mischief Makers
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commissioned the multimillion ultra modern six level car park at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA),Lagos.
The edifice was officially commissioned by the Managing Director of FAAN, Engr. Saleh Dunoma represented by the Director of Engineering Services, Engr. Salisu Daura in company of the Managing Director of Seymour Aviation Limited, Mr. Francis Ikenga, the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Plc , Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo, represented by the Deputy Managing Director, Alhaji. Muhammed Balarabe, Director of Human Resources, FAAN, Noris Anozie, Director of Commercial and Business Development, Sadiku Rafindadi,the international terminal Airport Manager, Mrs .Victoria Shin-Aba and other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of FAAN, Engr. Saleh Dunoma stated that the facility was not only long overdue but that it was also very timely.
He disclosed that the car park which would be operated for 30 years by Seymour Aviation Limited was build under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
Saleh, who was represented by the Director of Engineering Services, Engr. Salisu Daura stated that the facility was a demonstration of PPP between FAAN and Seymour Aviation Limited.
Daura declared that the construction of the modern car park would bring to an indiscriminate parking of cars in and around the international airport.
Speaking further Daura said that with this project, travellers and airport users will now be dropped at the drop zone after which they proceed to the car park instead parking indiscriminately, adding that FAAN has put in place measures to make it seamless.
According to him, “All the vehicles are expected to move to the car park as soon as they drop their passengers”, adding that a Task Force comprising of FAAN, Air Force, Police and towing companies has been constituted to ensure that airport users to park their in unauthorised places.
He called for continued cooperation between FAAN, Seymour, Fidelity Bank and other entities to provide comfortable services to passengers and airport users.
On his part, the Managing Director of Seymour Aviation Limited, Mr. Francis Ikenga stated that the facility demonstrates the level of commitment of the company, adding that it is an ultra modern car park built in line with international standards for the comfort and convenience of airport users.
Ikenga said that with this project, FAAN is aiming to make Nigeria aviation hub in Sub Sahara region, adding that Seymour would continue to partner with FAAN
“We hope to continue with FAAN and Fidelity,” Ikenga said.
Seymour, Ikenga stated is a commercial enterprise and that as a result it has commercial objective , adding that this world class facility would be maintained by AMF Facilities
He listed some of the facilities at the car park to include: capacity to park 1,300 cars, executive waiting lounge, Gents and ladies on all the floors, public address system that would be connected to the hall to ensure that passengers don’t miss their flights, lifts and stair cases, and bomb detector among others.
Meanwhile, FAAN has stated that there was seamless operations at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 contrary to insinuations in some quarters.
The agency made this clarification in an online statement signed by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu.
Yakubu stated that the trending malicious video clip was aimed to create panic and tarnish the reputation of the country’s airports by mischief makers.
She advised the general public to always refer to the authority’s website (www.faan.gov.ng) or social media platforms, Facebook Page (FAAN OFFICIAL) or Twitter Handle (@FAAN_OFFICIAL) where authentic news and updates are readily accessible.
