Edo State Police Command said that it has arrested one suspect in connection with the alleged killing of Mr. Lawrence Okojie, a reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Recalled that Okojie was allegedly shot dead by gunmen on Saturday night in Benin.
He was reported to have been gunned down around Ogunola Junction, off Siluko Road.
The latest killing of NTA Reporter; Okojie brings to five the number of journalists that have so far been murdered in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)in the state, Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP) Moses Nkombe, who confirmed the development , stated that one person had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Though the Police was yet to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death but promised to carry out a thorough investigation on killing.
Report has it that the late Okojie, who was dropped off by NTA staff bus at Ogunola Junction at about 8:00p.m. on Saturday, had earlier called his wife on phone to inform her that he was on his way home.
The report added that several hours later the wife called him repeated but there was no response from her husband end.
It was at that point that the wife raised alarm that her husband who called her to say that he was on his way home could not be reached.
Report has it that some of his colleagues at NTA, who joined some family members on a search mission, discovered his corpse in a morgue in Benin on Sunday night.
