As the gale of deportation of Nigerians continues with no end in sight, the Italian Government today deported 40 Nigerians from for criminal and immigration related offences.
Today’s development s coming barely four days after the United Kingdom deported 23 Nigerians for similar reasons.
The deportees arrived the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos at about 8:25pm aboard Air Meridiana aircraft with the registration number E1-FNU.
A source close to NIS , who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to journalists, informed that 39 of the deportees were sent back to Nigeria because they committed immigration offences while one, a male was deported as a result of his involvement in drug related matters.
The source said that the deportees with drug related matters would be handed over to police for further prosecution while 39 others were profiled by the officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) attached to the gateway airport.
Attempts to speak with some of the deportees failed as they prevented from speaking to the media by some security officials at the airport.
Though they not speak to journalists, their looks however, speaks volumes; that they were not happy.
