The United Kingdom has deported 23 Nigerians for allegedly committing immigration-related offences in their host country.
The deportees arrived at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) Lagos today; Friday.
The deportees, who are all males arrived the gateway airport in a chartered airplane.
Deputy Spokesman of Airport Police Command, Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Joseph Alabi, confirmed the development but did not speak further.
As it is usual, the deportees were received by officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) , the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the Police and officials the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The deportees were profiled by officials of NIS before they were allowed to leave for their respective destinations.
Attempts to speak to some of the deportees proved abortive, as they were not willing to speak on why they were deported.
