Italy Deports 37 Nigerians

 

Italian Government today deported 37 Nigerians

The deportees arrived the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) Lagos, on Tuesday night.

Abelnewsng.com learnt that they were deported for immigration-related offences.

The deportees, who are all males, were flown into Nigeria in a chartered aircraft with registration number OM-IEX.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos Airport Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Alabi, confirmed the development.

On arrival at the MMA, Lagos, the deportees were received by officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) , the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), officials the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)and the Police

A source close to Immigration told Abelnewsng.com that deportees were profiled by NIS officials.

The source also said that each of the deportees was given a stipend to facilitate their transportation to their respective states.

With this deportation, Italy has joined the number of countries that have deported Nigerians from their countries. Other countries are Libya, United Kingdom, South Africa and Mali.
