Barely 24 hours after the Acting President , Prof. Yemi Osinbajo paid unscheduled visit to the Murtala Muhammed Airport(MMA),Lagos, tsunami today occurred at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority(NCAA) consuming seven of the nine directors of the regulatory body.
The sack is coming barely three months after some agencies chiefs such as that of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), Dr Anthony Anuforom, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr Emmanuel Anasi, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), Commissioner, Dr. Felix Abali and the Rector of the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria, Capt. Samuel Caulcrick were booted out.
The Federal Government appointed Capt. Fola Akinkuotu as Managing Director for NAMA, Prof. Sani Abubakar Mashi, Director-General of NIMET and Capt. Abdulsalam Mohammed became the Rector of NCAT Zaria while the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN), Engr Saleh Dunoma and the Director General of NCAA, Capt. Usman Muhtar were spared.
Affected are the Director of Airworthiness Standards, Engr. Benedict Adeyileka, Director Of Air Transport Regulation, Justus O. Wariya, Director Consumer Protection, Adamu Ahmed Abdullahi, Director of General Aviation, Capt. Ayodele Oladipo Sasegbon and Director, Human Resources, Austin-Amadi, Hyacinth Ifeanyi.
Others are Director, Operations and Training, Capt. Abdullahi Maikano Sidi, Director of Finance and Accounts, Alhaji Salawu Nuhu Ozigi, and Director of Administration, Barr. Aba Ejembi
Abelnewsng .com learnt that the affected directors were immediately ordered to handover to the most senior officer in their various directorates.
Contacted, the General Manager, Public Affairs, NCAA, Mr. Sam Adurogboye confirmed the development but added that details of the their sack can only be made known by the Ministry of Aviation in Abuja On why they were fired, he stated that only the Aviation Ministry could offer the reason(s).
According to him, “It is true that all the directors have been disengaged, but I don’t have details of their disengagement.”
Abelnewsng .com gathered that the Director-General of NCAA, Capt. Muhtar Usman had told the affected directors of their disengagements by the Federal Government at a meeting he had with on Thursday afternoon at the regulatory body’s headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos.
The online platform further learnt the Director General of the agency broke the news to the affected, who were shocked to their bone marrow.
