..Inspects Conveyor Belts, Travelator

The Acting President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo today paid an un-scheduled visit to Nigeria’s gateway airport: Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos.

The Acting President accompanied by the Minister of Aviation, State, Senator Hadi Sirika went into the international wing of the airport with a retinue of aids, officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN), Immigration and other security agencies.

While at the terminal, the Acting President and the Aviation Ministers were conducted round the travelator and three conveyor belts by the General Manger, Mechanical, FAAN, Engr. Ephraim Nwodo, who explained the workings of the facilities to his guest ,who was  anxious to see the facilities .

Recalled that the conveyor belts at the baggage reclaim area were installed about three years.

At the baggage reclaim area which houses the three conveyor belts, Osinbanjo directed the officials of FAAN to put on the facility to determine the functionality of the conveyor belt, which FAAN officials later did to convince the August visitors.

During the visit,Osinbajo, the minister of Aviation ,FAAN officials led by General Manager , Mechanical were seen talking in very low tones, a situation which made it very difficult for newsmen to hear what they were saying while inspecting the facilities at the airport.

The unscheduled visit also took the Acting President to the Visa on Arrival Section and Security Screening area both manned by officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

However, Abelnewsng.com observed that the Acting President was very curious to know the workability of the facilities and the areas he visited

Airport workers, who were shocked at seeing the Acting President at the gateway airport and who spoke on the condition of anonymity,  told Abelnewsng.com that this is the first time a government official in the caliber of Osinbajo will be visiting the airport and inspecting facilities.

According to her,” I have been in this airport for a long time but I have never seen President or Acting President inspecting this airport. This is the first time in the history of the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos. It shows that the man means business.”

Though, airport workers were surprise to see the Acting President inspecting facilities but they were however happy that Osinbajo was there first hand to see things himself.
