Buhari Extends Medical Vacation, Writes To National Assembly

 

There were indications today that President Muhammadu Buhari, who departed for medical vacation  for London on January 23,2017 will not return to Nigeria soon following a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity. Mr Femi Adesina   informing the President has extended his vacation.

The first vacation was to begin January 23 and end February 6,2017.

President Buhari, it would be recalled was expected back in Nigeria today; February 5, 2017  but Adesina’s statement informed that the vacation has been extended and that the President has written to the National Assembly about the extension, a situation that has further created fears that all may not be well .

While the President was away, there were both genuine and mischievous concerns about his health.

While some rumoured that he had passed on, others said he was in the intensive unit of the London based hospital, a situation which also generated a lot of political interpretations.

But his spokesmen quickly rallied round the President to dispell the death rumour making the rounds

However, with the latest extension of President Buhari medical vacation, there is no doubt that another round of political interoperations would be read to the development.

The statement signed and issued by Adesina today reads, “President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the National Assembly today, February 5, 2017, informing of his desire to extend his leave in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors. The President had planned to return to Abuja this evening, but was advised to complete the test cycle before returning. The notice has since been dispatched to the Senate President, and Speaker, House of Representatives. Mr. President expresses his sincere gratitude to Nigerians for their concern, prayers and kind wishes.”
