…Sacked Staff Still Lives In FAAN Quarters
…To Go With Properties
…Nothing Has Change ——Angry Agency Worker
Finally, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has dismissed the embattled Grade Level 6 officer, Mrs. Christy Olabode, who was indicted for allegedly diverting N70 million furniture allowances within three years.
It was gathered that Olabode , who diverted the sum between 2013 and 2016 was given her dismissal letter in December, 2016, following the recommendation of a committee set up by the Managing Director of FAAN, Mr. Saleh Dunoma to thoroughly look into the matter.
Her dismissal followed the investigation carried out by the committee, which found guilty of the allegation.
Abelnewsng.com however learnt that the committee discovered while investigating the matter that she carried out the fraud in collaboration with some senior management staff of the agency, who were neither queried nor dismissed along with Olabode.
To further protect these senior staff, who were ‘partners in fraud’; the online platform learnt that Olabode was quietly and secretly shown the way out by the agency
A source told abelnewng.com that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was informed of the dismissal of the staff by FAAN.
However, the online platform learnt that despite easing off the indicted staff, all properties and assets found in her possession by the committee and EFCC during their investigation into the fraud were not confiscated by the management.
Also, a highly dependable source told Abelnewsng.com that the dismissed staff is still living in the staff quarters of the agency with her husband, who is equally a staff of the agency.
Properties allegedly discovered by the committee while investigating the case are: duplex in Lagos and Ilorin, where she hails from while she also runs a highbrow boutique in Ilorin and Lagos.
Recalled that the Olabode had threatened to expose all those involved in the fraud with her if the agency further uses EFCC to harass her
The fraud, which led to Olabode’s sack, was detected by the eagle eyed personnel at the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department of the agency.
Abelnewsng.com gathered the committee only recommended her dismissal but did not recommend that she should make some refunds to the agency or she forfeits whatever properties she may have used the proceeds of the alleged fraud to buy, a situation a source in FAAN stated was not harsh enough to deter others from doing same.
“It is true that Mrs Olabode has been dismissed from the system after her initial suspension by the management. But, curiously, all the properties discovered with her during the investigation her still intact. As I am talking to you right now, she still resides in the staff quarters of FAAN with her husband. Personally, I will say nothing has changed and I believe she might still be brought back into the system one way or the other in the future” a source, who does not trust the system said.
Contacted the Acting General Manager, Corporate Communications, FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu Confirm the dismissal but did not speak further on the issue.
According to her, “Yes I can confirm to you that Mrs Olabode has been dismissed”
