The President, Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami, SAN to investigate the involvement of top officials of his administration accused of corruption,

This was disclosed by the Presidential Spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu in a two paragraph statement.

The statement said that any official found liable “will not escape prosecution.”

The statement titled, “President Buhari Will Wage A Relentless War Against Corruption” reads, “The attention of the presidency has been drawn to a number of reports in the media, in which various accusations of corruption have been levelled against some top officials in the administration.”

It continued, “In that regard, President Buhari has instructed the Attorney General of the Federation to investigate the involvement of any top government officials accused of any wrong-doing. If any of them are liable they (sic) will not escape prosecution.”

The President’s order may be coming on the heels of calls by the Senate for the resignation of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal over  contract awarded to a company linked to him on one hand.

And on the other hand  is the  refusal of the Upper Chamber  to confirm the nomination of Ibrahim Magu as  the Chairman of  the Economic Financial Crime Commission(EFCC),for alleged corruption, a situation that gave rise to reports alleging that top level official of the Buhari led administration are corruption.
