RwandAir has been awarded certification by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Safe Ground Operations (ISAGO).
The certification was given to the airline after completing a complex auditing process similar to the Enhanced IATA Operational Safety Audit,(E-IOSA).
Speaking on the development, the Chief Executive Officer of RwandAir, John Mirenge said, “With this achievement, RwandAir will provide enhanced ground-handling services with high safety standards to its customer airlines and private jets operating at Kigali International Airport, while maximising productivity.”
“This would not have been possible without the dedicated, tireless, hard work of the RwandAir staff” He added. However, the ground operation section of the airline got the certification from IATA following an audit conducted on RwandAir Ground Operations in July this year by an organisation known as WAKE QA, an IATA approved audit firm, which concluded the audit with minimal findings and observations.
What ISAGO does for Ground Service Providers (GSP)is what IOSA does for airlines.
ISAGO is an IATA standardised and structured audit e programme for GSP that was modeled on the success of IOSA .
The audit uses internationally-recognised ground operational standards that are aimed at reducing risk and cost as well as minimizing damages and incidents.
The pursuit of the ISAGO certification, in addition to the existing IOSA certification, confirms RwandAir’s commitment to the industry best practices in operational safety to a world-class level.
