A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), the Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO), has donated some items to Community Primary School, Oke-Odo, Lagos as part of activities to mark the 2016 Global Hand Wash Day.
The items presented to the school include: buckets with taps, disinfectants, soaps and hand towels.
They were presented to the school’s Head Teacher, Mrs K.A. Igbinogun by the Regional Officer, LAPO Lagos Region 2, Sandra Asowata.

In her speech, Asowata said the Global Hand Wash Day was marked on October 15 annually, adding that this year’s theme, “Making Hand Washing a Habit”, was very apt.
According to her, “Global hand washing day is an annual global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding the importance of hand washing with soap as an easy, effective and affordable way to prevent disease and save lives.”
Asowata, while teaching the pupils the various steps of hand washing with soap and water, urged them to wash before eating and after the use of toilet.

According to her, the training of the pupils drawn from KG 1 to Primary 6, is aimed at ensuring that they imbibe healthy habit from a tender age.
On her part, Igbinogun commended LAPO for choosing community primary school to mark such a great event and for providing them with the items.
She promised to always educate the pupils on hand washing to make sure it becomes a habit to them.
