Air Traffic Controllers raise Alarm Over Lingering, Epileptic Communication In Nigeria Airspace

The Nigeria Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (NATCA) has raised serious alarm over the poor and lingering communication between ATC and pilot and also between controller/controller communication at the two area control centres in Kano and Lagos.

To avoid any calamity bedeviling the country, the group said that it has declared a state of emergency to resolve the lingering problem poor communication between ATC and pilot.

The Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) are an integral part of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA)

The alarm by NATCA is coming on the heels of very poor communication between controller/pilot and controller/controller communication at the two area control centres in Kano and Lagos, which the ATCs have been witnessing.

NATCA raised the alarm in a communiqué jointly signed by the President of NATCA, Victor Eyaru, and the General Secretary, Banji Olawode at the end of the at the 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the weekend in Jos..

The communique said the poor communication has remained a nightmare to both pilots and ATC, adding that the body’s resolution will save the country from any form of embarrassment that will result from the current epileptic system.
