Esan North East LGA Intensifies Efforts Against Social Deviants

…Arrests Suspects, Others At Large
Following the upsurge of political activities in Edo State in the build up to the September governorship elections, some men suspected to be involved in anti-social activities were at the weekend at Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area(LGA) of the State, arrested for anti-social activities.
Those arrested by the police according to a source close to the LGA were taking to the police station for further interrogation and investigation.
Though, police has not concluded investigation on the matter, two of the suspects Jude Okodede and Kelly Itua, who are now in police custody, it was learnt have confessed to being gays for some time now.
Okodede and Itua also revealed that some of their fellow gay partners whose names they gave as Ihayere Kingsley and Augustine Inerhunwa, who were still at large as the time of compiling this report, may have fled the country for overseas for fear of being lynched or persecuted.
The case of Ihayere Kingsley, it was further learnt is particularly worrisome as he was a known youth leader of the now opposition party; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the town.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that he may have been set up by political enemies, who may want to tarnish his name and that of his family for possible political gain.
At the moment the whereabouts of Ihayere and that of one Augustine Osemengbe Obhiebo also mentioned in connection with the case, are presently unknown.
