Collapsed 5 Storey Building Kills 17, Injures 11 In Lekki

About 17 people have so far been confirmed dead and 11 injured, as a five-storey building under construction collapsed at Chisco Bus-Stop opposite Oando Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
An eye witness told AbelNews that the five storey building collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday following a heavy wind that accompanied the rain that same day and that many people were trapped under the rubbles.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), spokesperson, Ibrahim Farinloye, who confirmed the development.
He also said that four persons were rescued alive; adding that rescue operations has began.
The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Michael Akindele who also confirmed the incident stated that it was unfortunate incident.
He added that the agency would investigate to know if the building passed through the necessary procedures and the necessary approvals.
According to him, “Enough is enough”
He hinted that the survivors had been taken for treatment by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).
He added that the remains of those who lost their lives have been packed by the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, (SEHMU) and that they would be taken to the mortuary.
On the update on the rescue operations, he explained that it was going on and that the rescuers were using three excavators and other equipment do the operation.
Present at the site of the incident to carry out rescue operations were: NEMA, LASEMA, Lagos State Ambulance Service, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Navy, the police, Lagos State Fire Services and Civil Defence,
