Nigeria Signs BASA With Qatar

Despite the inability of the country to reciprocate flights to half of the over 70 countries which she signed Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) with, Nigeria has signed BASA with Qatar.
The agreement according to a statement by Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina will ensure direct flights between major cities in both countries.
According to the statement ,the Minister of State for Aviation Alhaji Hadi Sirika, who represented President Buhari signed on behalf of Nigeria while Qatar Minister of Transportation and Commerce, Jassim Bin Saif Alsulaiti signed on behalf of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Bin Hammad Al-Thani.
The BASA signed with Nigeria and Qatar is expected to promote, trade, commerce, tourism between the two countries
The agreement is also coming despite calls by stakeholders for a review of the BASAs entered into by Nigeria with other countries, which the country has failed to reciprocate.
They have continuously argued that the agreements Nigeria were lop-sidedness and as a result deals were against the country.
Of the over 70 BASA’s, some of them have been activated while others are yet to be activated.
