The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) said that it has received and submitted the Conditions of Service (COS) document of its staff to the Federal Ministry of Aviation to commence the necessary approval processes
The acknowledgment by NAMA that it has received the document is coming following a 21 –day ultimatum given to the agency by three unions; Air Transport Service Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations civil Service Technical and Recreational services Employees (AUPCTRE) to commence full implementation of all the agreed terms in the new COS.
The agency’s reaction is contained in an online statement titled, “ RE: Non –Approval Of NAMA COS , signed by the General Manager Public Affairs, Mrs Olajumoke Adetona and made available to aviation correspondents.
According to Adetona, ”The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) is in receipt of a letter jointly signed by 3 aviation unions. Therein, the unions are requesting to meet with the management of the agency to review the approval stages required towards the implementation of the reviewed Condition of Service (COS) document, which was collectively worked on by the unions and the agency (COS Committee), particularly on the review of Professional Allowances.”
She explained that the COS document had been submitted to the Federal Ministry of Aviation to commence the necessary required approval processes.
The General Manager added that the agency has acknowledged receipt of the letter in writing and that the agency would in due course agree a date to meet with the unions to review and follow up on the required approval stages leading to the implementation of the COS document.
