…Says Okowa is God Sent

The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Monday Igbuya has stated that the Delta State Government will take “appropriate action” on the alleged abduction and killing of the traditional ruler of Ubulu-Uku, Obi Akaeze Ofulue the III by Fulani herdsmen.
Igbuya who spoke in Asaba not only condemned the murder of the monarch but said “the government is committed to protecting the people”.
According to him, “This highly provocative act poses a great threat to peace and security. Deltans and non Deltans must choose a better path.”
He stated this when protesters under the auspices of Anioma Security Watch Network (ASWN) stormed the Delta State House of Assembly to vent their displeasure over the murder of the monarch and the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the state.
ASWN urged the Delta State Government to provide a permanent place for the Fulani herdsmen.
Addressing the protesters, the speaker urged them to shun violence and that the state government would prevent crisis in the state.
Igbuya promised to present the issue of the Fulani herdsmen and other grievances to governor of the state.
“I understand the issues but you must shun violence. I’ll continue to encourage and support all efforts to prevent crisis in the state” he said.
In the same vein, the Speaker has described Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as God sent and that his mission is to develop the state
“Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is here to develop Delta State.” he was quoted as saying.
Receiving delegates of the First Didactic Young Star Summit, Igbuya commended Okowa for mapping out programmes aimed at making the people independent and prosperous.
He appealed to the people to support the administration of the state governor in moving the state forward.
“Yesterday, we depended on oil, today; there is the need to look beyond oil. Please encourage your parents to pay taxes. We need the money to look after you. We need the money to develop the state” he added.
