N2.1b Arms Deal: Dokpesi Pleads Not Guilty

Former Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi was yesterday docked before the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged N2.1billion arms deal fraud.
The High Chief was arraigned before trial Justice Gabriel Kolawole along with his firm; Daar Investment and Holdings Limited .to answer a six-count criminal charge leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
EFCC alleged that Dokpesi received about N2.1billion from the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) between October 2014 and March 19, 2015, specifically for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) presidential media campaign.
The prosecution said that the alleged transaction breach the provisions of the Public Procurement Act, Money laundering Act and the EFCC Act.
However, the media mogul pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge, leveled against him even as Justice Kolawole adjourned till today to consider his application for bail.
Meanwhile, court has given EFCC to go ahead to remand Dokpesi in its custody, while the case has been fixed February 17, 18 and March 2 and 3, to commence full hearing on the case.
