The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the former Chairman of Daar Communications and a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Chief Raymond Dokpesi and former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa over alleged arms deal.
Dokpesi was picked up in Abuja at about noon on Tuesday and was accompanied to the office of the EFCC by his son Raymond Dokpesi Jnr., who is the current Chairman of Daar Communications.
The Head of Media in the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrest to Channels Television.
He said that the former Daar boss was arrested in connection with money disbursed from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
Uwujaren added that there was no explanation as to what the money was meant for and that it was pathetic that the office of the NSA was used as “a warehouse to dish out money to people”.
He stated that what is very worrisome is that this hard-earned money is taken from the coffers of the country.
Meanwhile politicians suspected to have benefitted from security budget allegedly missing have been arrested by the anti-graft body.
Also arrested was the former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa and for allegedly receiving huge sums of money from the office of the former NSA.
It was further learnt that EFCC invited Dokpesi for questioning for allegedly receiving over N2 billion from the office of the NSA, while Bavaria on the other hand was arrested for allegedly receiving over N100 million from the same source.
