…Suspends Flight Operations Tomorrow
Nigeria’s oldest airline, Aero Contractors has offered its aircraft both fixed wing and helicopters to the Federal Government for airlift of relief materials, medical equipment and personnel in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
This is just as the airline stated that it would suspend its flight operations tomorrow ;Thursday March 26, 2020.
This was disclosed by the CEO of the company, Capt. Ado Sanusi who said that it is the contribution of the airline in support of government’s fight against COVID -19 and treatment of those already infected.
Sanusi said that the aircraft would henceforth be at the disposal of the Presidential Task Force for the Control of Coronavirus in Nigeria, headed by the Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria (SGF), Boss Mustapha.
The Aero CEO urged well-meaning individuals; corporate organisations and others to support the government to overcome this pandemic, which is resetting the world.
He commended the efforts the Federal Government is making so far in the fight against the pandemic and urged that Nigerians should abide by the rules to get themselves protected from the scourge.
“We at Aero Contractors have decided to offer our fleet to the federal government, all the aircraft in the fixed wing and rotary, to deploy at its disposal in the fight against COVID-19. This is what we have decided to do to support government.
“I am impressed by what the Task Force is doing so far and I believe that our little contributions will help them. They can use the aircraft to airlift relief materials, medical equipment and personnel.
“I use this opportunity to implore Nigerians to follow instruction by the federal, state governments and the task force so that we will protect ourselves from this pandemic,” Sanusi said.

Meanwhile, the airline has stated that it would suspend flight operations tomorrow, Thursday, March 26,2020, in line with the Federal Government efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19.
This is also in line with the decision of the Lagos State Government, which has prohibited any gathering that is more than 20 persons.
“In cognizance of the commendable efforts of the Federal Government to stop the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, we at Aero Contractors have decided to suspend flight services in support of initiatives / precaution to ensure that there is no community infection in the country.
“Coronavirus, known as COVID-19 is a global threat to our humanity and considering its devastating effect on many countries where it has led to death of thousands of people, we have decided to make this onerous sacrifice by suspending our flight operations for two weeks, effective Midnight 26 March, 2020. After the two week duration, we will review the progress made and take a decision on resumption of operations.
“We therefore crave the understanding of our esteemed customers to recognize our decision as a responsible corporate citizen and our support for full Government effort to protect our citizens.
“We have also taken care of all the future schedule of our customers and will ensure that those who have booked flights with us will be taken to their destinations in our usual safe and efficient service.”
