Aero Contractor, the oldest airline in Nigeria and the only airlines operating Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in the country has automated its facility using the system of a global software provider Ramco, a company based in Chennai, India.
According to Aero, Ramco by this deal will provide improved digital solutions to Aero’s MRO services, adding that the partnership started in July, 2019 and that the airline’s MRO became functional in December of the same year.
Speaking at a media briefing today to formally make the deal known, the Managing Director of Aero, Capt. Ado Sanusi said that the essence of partnering with Ramco was not only to create more efficiency in the MRO’s operations but to also provide softwares that would be more efficient in the day to day operations.
He said that Ramco has robust software that can diagonise at the same time repair, adding that all the software are automated.
The Aero boss stated that today every aspect of the hangar facility can be accessed and tracked real time for enhanced efficiency.
On the amount spent on the MRO, Sanusi stated that the airline had invested over N200 million over the last five years, adding that hangar business requires huge investment.
The Aero Managing Director said that the volume of aircraft sent to the hangar for services has increased and that this necessitated the signing of partnership with Ramco.
“As our services increased in scope with more third party equipment being brought to Aero’s MRO facility for maintenance, there was the need for improved streamlining of our operations through digitalisation
“The management of Aero Contractors therefore contracted Ramco, an aviation software solution provider to offer a software solution that covers everything monitoring services from the time we enter into the contract with a client all the way to the time the job is concluded. It includes the contract itself, costing billing, logistics manpower allocation, optimum manpower utilisation , thereby saving Aero MRO huge cost especially in man-hour that are paid for but not utilised efficiently.
“It also provides efficiencies in human resources management, purchasing, inventory, warranty maintenance, financial, third party maintenance and sales. Its integrated business intelligence tools allow you to measure monitor and manage with the help of advanced analytic,” Sanusi said.
Explaining further, the officer in charge of Aero’s MRO, Engr. James Ominyi said that the facility can now do C-Check , adding that already a total of 6C-check had been done which according to him is equivalent to one D-check.
Ominyi added that to avoid a situasion where certain things are left undone in the process of carrying out maintenance on airplanes, Aero decided to collaborate with Ramco , a software provider to make the MRO’s operations more efficient.
He further disclosed that as a result of Aero’s capacity and capability, virtually all the airlines in Nigeria including foreing airlines now patronise Aero’s hangar facility.
Also speaking, the General Manager Aviation, EMEA & India, Ramco, Menako Sinho stated that the organisation was excited to add Aero Contractor to Ramco’s over 75 clientele.
She said that the successful implementation of Ramco Aviation at Aero suite would automate manual work execution processes and also enable organisation wide visibility.
She added that module for planning, work execution, stores, procurement, MRO sales and billing process, Ramco’s integrated Aviation solution M & E MRO solution automates and optimises Aero Contractor’s MRO services
According to her, “The solution would help the organisation optimum employee utilisation and improved efficiency and accuracy in billing processes.
Menaka stated with the addition of Aero to the number of customers it has worldwide, Ramco was now looking forward to have Caverton Helicopters, the rotary wing giant that is rapidly growing in the African region to be the software provider’s customer.
