EFCC Nabs 2 Men With $2. 8B In Suitcases At Enugu Airport

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Enugu zone has nabbed two men carrying $2.8million about (N1.02b) at Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA) Enugu.

The Anti graft image maker Mr. Tony Orilade, who confirmed the arrest of the two men in a statement made available to journalist today, stated that the  suspects were nabbed by EFCC at the Departure Lounge of the airport on Thursday night while boarding an Arik Air flight to Lagos.

The suspects, who were identified by EFCC as Ighoh Augustine and Ezekwe Emmanuel, claimed they were workers of Bankers Warehouse.

EFCC explained that the two men concealed the cash in two suitcases, containing $1.4 million each.

On interrogation the two men said they have been in the business of conveying cash for “some notable banks” for over six years and were in the process of doing same for Union Bank Plc, located at New Market, Onitsha, Anambra State, when they were nabbed.

They also stated that they had so far carried out such assignments “four times this year.”

Orilade said that the suspect would be charged to court soon.
