Lalong Flags Off Sale, Distribution Of Fertiliser, Appeals For Transparency

Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has stated that he would like to see an improvement in the level of transparency in the distribution and sale of fertiliser for the 2018 farming season in the state.

He said this while flagging- off the sale of fertiliser for the 2018 cropping season in Dengi , Headquarters of Kanam Local Government Area.

Governor Lalong stated that NPK and Uriah would be sold for N5, 500 for a bag each and that government has for the first time purchased subsidised organic fertilizer for N4, 500 a bag.

An online statement issued by the Commissioner, Information & Communication, Yakubu Dati, quoted Lalong as saying that extension staff were employed to carry out soil tests to determine the type and quality of soil needed for specific communities across the state.

At the flag off ceremony, there were goodwill messages by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Hosea Finangwai, Chairman of Kanam Hubu Bale, Programme Manager, PADP, Philip Gonap, Chairman All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Philip Azi and the Long Gomai of Shendam Martin Shaldas.

19,000 metric tons of fertiliser was purchased by the state government for distribution and sale for this year’s farming season.
